2009 National Stewardship Conference

June 11, 2009

Every three years, Canada’s stewardship and conservation community comes together to celebrate and advance stewardship across the nation. We meet again July 8–11, 2009 in Calgary, Alberta for Strengthening Stewardship – Investing at Every Step, the 4th National Stewardship and Conservation Conference.

Public concern over pressures on our natural resources is growing, and Canadians increasingly understand the need to be engaged in careful and responsible management of land, water, air and other natural resources. Building on the momentum established by previous national stewardship and conservation conferences, this conference recognizes that stewardship is well-established across many regions of Canada and what is required now is to take measure of our actions, strengthen the stewardship ethic, and support Canada’s stewards through policy and resources at all levels.

Strengthening Stewardship – Investing at Every Step will bring together individuals, groups, industry, business, researchers, government and non-government organizations committed to stewardship, with keynote speakers from across Canada. This is the only national conference of its type that brings together Canada’s stewards to discuss emerging issues and solutions for strengthening stewardship across Canada.

We are extending a warm Western invitation to stewards from all sectors across Canada to participate in this event and to see firsthand some of the stewardship initiatives in the Province of Alberta. Delegates will also have the opportunity to attend the world famous Calgary Stampede, visit Banff National Park, Kananaskis Country and many other local attractions.

The conference will be held at the MacEwan Conference & Event Centre at the University of Calgary, offering 40,000 square feet of conference and event space. Associated with this conference are exciting field trips, networking opportunities, poster sessions and preferred display space available throughout the conference venue.
